Current name – Panaeolus papilionaceus (according to Species Fungorum).
Harvest time: April – December. Location: mainly in groups, sometimes by alone, on soil well bred by cow or horse manure, often directly on manure. Distributed in fertile meadows and river valleys, often on or near places where it grows especially tall grass (manure, fertile soil).
Hat Dimensions: 8 – 35 mm ∅, height a bit more width. Shape: first oval, then in the shape of a bell or umbrella, never flat. Color: whitish or gray and silky-shiny, if dry, with a reddish-brown tint, if wet. In the center often brownish. Surface: pleated sometimes torn if dry, silky if damp. Fragile thin flesh of gray color without a special smell or taste. Edge: dangles through the spore-bearing layer, first turned inward, later slowly expanding. Small peel shells (Velum partiale) for a long time leaves a jagged whitish border on the edge of the cap. Leg Size: 35 – 80 mm high, 2 – 3 mm ∅. Shape: almost straight, uniformly thin, hollow, slightly thickened at the base of the mycelium. Color: reddish at first, upper with age part blackish-brown or black due to adherent spores. Surface: shiny, slightly ribbed, coated a fluff of small whitish hairs that give the leg a pale, as in flour, kind.
Spore layer Color: taupe with white edges, in old age a purplish-black speck. Sinuat and attached to the leg (adnat). Location: very dense. Disputes: black, 14-18 x 9-12 msm, lemon color, thick-walled.
