Mycena renati is an attractive mushroom species belonging to the Mycena family. Synonyms for its name are Mycena yellow-footed, Mycena yellowish.

External description of the mushroom

The main difference between the yellowish mycene and other fungi of this family is the presence of a yellowish or pinkish cap, a yellow leg (empty from the inside). The diameter of the Rene mycene cap varies from 1 to 2.5 cm. The shape of the cap is initially spherical, but gradually becomes conical or bell-shaped. The color of the caps of the yellowish mycene is mainly pink-brown or meat-red-brown, and the edge is lighter than the center (often even white).

The plates of the mushroom under the cap are initially white, but as they mature, they become pink, grow to the stem with teeth.

The leg of the described type of mushroom has a cylindrical shape, brittle, characterized by the presence of a small edge along its entire surface. the color of the stem can be orange-yellow or golden-yellow, its upper part is lighter than the lower one, its thickness is 2-3 mm, and its length is 5-9 cm. Fresh mushrooms smell very similar to chlorine, the same acrid and unpleasant.

Fungal spores have a smooth surface and an elliptical shape, colorless. Their dimensions are 7.5-10.54.5-6.5 microns.

Habitat and period of fruiting

Mycena yellowish (Mycena renati) grows only in groups and colonies, it is almost impossible to see this mushroom alone. Fruiting of the yellowish mycene begins in May and lasts until October. The fungus grows in mixed and deciduous forests. Basically, it can be seen on rotted trunks of beech, oak, elm, alder.
