External description of the mushroom

Branch marasmiellus (Marasmiellus ramealis) consists of a cap and a leg. The initially convex cap has a diameter of 5-15 mm, in mature mushrooms it becomes prostrate, has a depression in the center, and visible grooves along the edges. In its central part, it is darker, as it approaches the edges, it is characterized by a faint pink color.

The leg has the same color as the cap, it becomes slightly darker downward, has dimensions of 3-201 mm. At the base, the leg has a light edging, and its entire surface is covered with small whitish particles, similar to dandruff. The leg is slightly bent, at the bottom it is thinner than at the base.

Mushroom pulp of the same color, characterized by springiness and subtlety. The fungus hymenophore consists of plates, unequal in relation to each other, adherent to the stem, rare, and slightly pinkish or completely white in color.

Habitat and period of fruiting

Active fruiting of the fungus lasts from June to October. It occurs in wooded areas, deciduous and mixed forests, in the middle of parks, on the soil directly on twigs fallen from deciduous trees. Grows in colonies. Basically, this variety of marasmiellus can be seen on old oak branches.

Edibility

The species Marasmiellus ramealis belongs to the category of inedible mushrooms. It is not poisonous, but it has a small size and thin flesh, which is why it is called conditionally inedible.

Similar species, distinctive features from them

The branch marasmiellus (Marasmiellus ramealis) has a certain similarity with the inedible fungus marasmiellus Wayana. True, the cap is absolutely white, the leg is longer, and this mushroom grows in the middle of last year's fallen leaves.
