Hericium erinaceus (lat.Hericium erinaceus) is a mushroom of the Hericia family of the russula order.
External description Sessile, rounded fruiting body, irregular in shape and without legs, with hanging long spines, the length of which is up to 2-5 centimeters, slightly yellowing when dry. White fleshy flesh. White spore powder.
Edible Edible. The mushroom tastes like shrimp meat.
Habitat Grows in the Khabarovsk Territory, the Amur Region, in the north of China, the Primorsky Territory, in the Crimea and the foothills of the Caucasus. It is very rare in forests on the trunks of living oaks, in their hollows and on stumps. In most countries it is listed in the 'Red Book'.
