Growing honey mushrooms and flakes

Honey mushrooms and flakes belong to the category of woody species. therefore they need to be grown not in soil, but on logs. Best for this hardwoods will fit. It can be birch, willow, maple or alder. But stone fruit or coniferous trees are not suitable for growth of flakes and honey agarics.

Logs for mushrooms must be harvested not in summer but in autumn or even in winter. This is due to the fact that on warm days in the wood putrefactive microorganisms rapidly start and multiply. A there are many similar microflora in the mushrooms themselves, so the mycelium in old or rot-infected wood simply cannot take root. IN at best, it will grow, but very poorly and slowly. Therefore, for harvesting logs for growing mushrooms or flakes should choose trees that are absolutely healthy, full of life. Only under such conditions the mycelium will quickly grow and give a bountiful harvest.

The dimensions of the future “garden” are also important. The thickness of the block should be at least 20 centimeters, and a length of about 40 centimeters. Mushrooms with logs can be collected two (in some cases – three) times a year for for 5-7 years. Then the wood will fully work out its resource and it will have to be replaced.

There is a simpler and more efficient way of breeding. wood mushrooms. It is necessary to prepare a substrate from ground branches and sow it with mycelium. The requirements for tree species are the same, as in the case of logs. Gradually, the mycelium will grow and fasten, cement the branch substrate. To provide the right microclimate, branches need to be covered with burlap or heavy paper. Experts say that this method differs even more productivity than growing on chimbachok. First crop appears in the spring, and the latter falls in late autumn.

Growing mushrooms

Using the described methods, it is recommended to grow the following varieties of mushrooms:

– summer mushroom. His mycelium tolerates winter well, turning the wood of the logs on which it lives into microwood. TO Moreover, this species does not harm garden plantings;

– winter mushroom. For country trees can be a threat, because he loves to parasitize on living and healthy trees. It is better he feels everything in a basement or cellar. Grows well and bears fruit in the climate of central Russia;

– flake edible. Tastes like already mentioned honey agaric autumn, but is characterized by increased “meatiness”. it due to the fact that the flake grows in a very humid environment (90-90%). Therefore, planting these mushrooms is additionally covered to provide a greenhouse effect. Without these measures, rely on the crop not worth it.
