Veselka

The fruit body of the fun: The fun has two stages development. The first – the mushroom has an ovoid shape 3-5 cm wide and 4-6 cm high, off-white, yellowish color. Under thick skin something mucous is found in the fun, and under the mucus is palpated more rigid structure. In the egg stage, the fun is very long, maybe a few weeks. Then the egg cracks, and the fun begins to grow up at a high speed (up to 5 mm per minute). Soon a fruiting body is formed with a high (10-15 cm, sometimes more) a hollow leg and a small fitting hat, covered brown-olive mucus. Under the mucus, the hat has a honeycomb structure, which is noticeable in later adulthood, when mucus eaten by flies. Coming out of the egg stage, ordinary fun emits a very strong carrion odor attracting insects.

Spore powder: Dissolved in brown mucus, covering hat; by eating mucus, insects carry spores.

Spread: “Eggs” oars appear in mid July; hat-shaped fruiting bodies develop somewhat later. Grows in grass, shrubs, deciduous woodlands. Obviously prefers rich soils.

Similar species: In the egg stage ordinary can be confused with some false raincoat or another member of the funky family; mature mushroom so it is characteristic that it is impossible to confuse it with any other mushroom even with all desire.

Edibility: It is believed that in the egg stage the mushroom edible; lovers, presumably, is a little. However, it should be noted that fun is actively used in folk medicine – in particular, as a means of increasing potency (which not surprising, given the characteristic appearance and growth rate mushroom).

Comments by the author: Amazing inconsistency: a little fun can lie unchanged egg for a month, and then wipe twenty centimeters in one night! How many times I found large mushroom “eggs” under the bushes, in the garden, in the field, filled with suspicious mucus, noted places, arranged on duty – the fun did not want to be shown. All mushroom dreams in including the craziest ones, come true the blessed summer of 2003 – the fun herself found me at the edge of the forest, warning of her the appearance of a suffocating stink. Seeing shamelessly sticking out a fan, I so I was surprised that I didn’t find anything smarter than to touch the hat with my finger – the finger stank all day. That’s the power of a fun!
